Allen Wu, Esq. is the Managing Partner of The WK Law Firm ("WK"), headquartered in New York City with a branch in Tianjin, The People's Republic of China. Mr. Wu has worked on a variety of complex domestic and cross-border transactions. He represents the major Chinese enterprises in the international mega transactions due to his active practice, in-depth knowledge and familiarity of both the U.S. and China legal, business and political systems.
His most famous practice is to represent HNA Group, the Chinese conglomerate in aviation, real estate investment and technology, in many of its corporate governance and global expansion activities, including the acquisition and financing of the following skyscraper office buildings across the United States, such as: 245 Park Avenue, NYC (a $2.23 billion acquisition and financing with the lending group consists of JP Morgan and 4 European banks, which is the largest real estate transaction of 2017 in New York City), 850 Third Avenue, NYC (over $500 million), 1180 Avenue of the Americas, NYC (over $320 million), 181 West Madison Avenue, Chicago (over $359 million), 33 South 6th Street, Minneapolis (at $315 million, which is the largest transaction of 2016 in Minneapolis), 123 Mission Street, San Francisco(over $400 million), and the sale of 12 Golf Clubs and Courses in the States of New York, California and Washington.
In the M&A and joint venture areas, Mr. Wu has handled the cases including Ubers private offering in both the U.S. and China, Ingram Micro (the world largest information technology products distributor fully owned by HNA Technology), Radisson Hotel Group (the third largest hospitality group in the world, owned and sold by HNA Hospitality Group). He also represented HNA Group and its affiliates in dealing with the U.S. and the European governmental regulatory compliance including several HNA Group’s M&A transactions, involved voluntary filings with The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States ("CFIUS"), Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) and SEC.
Mr. Wu is the Chief Representative of The WK Law Firm in China, and divides his time between China and New York. He has extensive experience working with major clients throughout the U. S. and China, including World Journal (the largest Chinese language newspaper in the North America), Sinovision (the largest Chinese TV Station and Media Company in the U.S.), China Press (the second largest Chinese language newspaper in the U. S.), Waitex Group (a top-notch international enterprise and major developer of mega projects in China, including the most recent V 1 Auto World and Racing Tracks in Beijing area, Florentia Village Outlet Malls in 7 major cities in China, as the key partner in NBA Playzone Project, etc.) and Beijing Tong Ren Tang (the most famous Chinese Herb Medicine Clinics).
At all times, Mr. Wu self undertook the responsibility to educate, bridge and promote the Chinese companies into the U.S. corporate world, assisted them to understand and master the American legal and business rules and cultures, and vice versa for the American companies invested in China. He also served as an Arbitrator in the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.
Mr. Wu is the Chairman of the Asian American Republican National Federation(美国共和党亞裔总党部,established in 1981), Global Vice Chairman of Asia-Pacific CEO Association, Worldwide(APCEO亞太总裁协会, which is an important international economic cooperation organization initialed by outstanding Asia-Pacific economic leaders in the early1990’), the Executive Chairman of the American Chinese Import & Export Council(美国華僑进出口商会,one of the largest chambers of commerce in Asian American community).
He also served in the board of many prominent trade or civil organizations and enjoyed the great honor and reputation in civil, political and business communities in American mainstream society, where he has been dedicated to act as a leader for bridging and promoting the Asian Americans’ into the mainstream America in defending Asian American’ interests and thus rising their legal status and civil rights for the equal and fair recognition.
As the Chairman of Asian American Republican National Federation, Mr. Wu held his own thoughts, “If we, the Asian American, wanted to change and improve our currently facing narrow and negative political and economic conditions, we must unite and exert our efforts to integrate ourselves into the American mainstream society. To earn the Asian Americans’ recognition, he has advocated the civil rights core strategy of “planting our roots into this land, learning and participating in the the local and nation political affairs, and merging ourselves into the mainstream society”.
Mr. Wu has dedicated to voice and promote those core values of “Asian based value” and “Asian American based needs ” for policies and legislations consideration to change the narrow stereotyped majority thinking of “one American size fits all”.
Mr. Wu is the recipient of the 2004 Ellis Island Medal of Honor-A Brilliant and the Highest Immigrant Civil Award being recognized in the U.S. Congressional Record.
In recent years, Mr. Wu has been a frequent speaker and activist offering valuable suggestions toward a fair, sound and mutually beneficial and prosperity trade and cultural relationships between China and the U.S. He also believes to promote the common grounds of “One Large Chinese Family and One Nation for Prosperity and Peace” for the more stability, equality and sustainability in the cross-strait relationships.
