A graduate of University of Pennsylvania Law School, Mr. Wu is a successful attorney dedicated to promoting Asian American business and community interests. He also has a prominent leadership role in Asian American community affairs, working toward raising Asian Americans’ status, image and civil rights protection in the United States, and bridging the Asian American community with the American mainstream community.
Mr. Wu is the Chairman of Wu & Kao, P.L.L.C., one of the largest Asian American-owned law firms. Mr. Wu has the highest ethical and professional integrity in the Asian American Community. He also serves as:
1. Executive Chairman to the Asian American Republican National Federation (founded since 1982).
2. Chairman of the New Century Asian American Civil Rights and Election Union - one of the most influential civil and political federations, whose members consist of leaders and top executives of major Asian American businesses and community organizations. The purposes of the Union are (i) to consolidate Asian American votes in elections and (ii) gain political recognition of the “Asian Immigrants’ Value and their Contribution” for long-term harmony and prosperity with other ethnic groups in the United States.
3. Executive Director of U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce - a nationally recognized non-profit Asian Americans business organization, founded in 1984, representing Pan Asian Americans in business, community and public affairs in the United States.
4. Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Import and Export Council (founded since 1984).
5. Founder and Joint-Chairman of the Chinese American Unity Committee (“CAUC”), which on December 1, 2001, honored the first Asian American woman ever appointed to any President’s cabinet, Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao, and saluted heros and heroines sacrificed in the 9/11 tragedy. CAUC is dedicated to the new civil rights movement for Chinese American interests.
6. General Counsel to the Asian American Business Development Center - an active non-profit organization promoting Asian American trade and small business development in New York City.
He helped lead the Asian American community in the following activities:
1. The revitalization movement of New York City Chinatown after 9/11 to the present.
2. Hosted the Unity Reception for three Congressional Caucuses (Asian Pacific American, Black American and Hispanic American) of 28 Congress persons in New York City, with Roundtable discussions on New Majority and Small Business Cooperation in 2002 and continued activities to the present.
3. Established a tradition in New York City at the Empire State Building for Lighting Chinese Lunar New Year annually.
4. Co-hosted the Chinese Culture & China Synergy Program for Outstanding Youth to visit China and learn their roots.
Mr. Wu is well-recognized in the American mainstream community and was most recently the recipient of the 2004 Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Mr Wu is an expert and frequent speaker on U. S. and China trade topics. He has received many awards including the 2002 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans In Business Award. In addition, Mr. Wu was the subject of the cover story for the U. S. Digest (October 2002) and is regarded as one of the most influential people in Asian American community.
